Plan
Implementation Plan for the full duration of the project
The Custom-IMD work programme has been organised into 8 focused work packages that encompass the research, technological development and innovation activities; and 3 focused workpackages that address demonstration, training and education, and project management.
WP1 will develop a range of innovative biomaterials suitable for use in the rapid manufacture of medical implants.
WP2 All tasks of the WP will converge towards the final collaborative e-supply networked platform enabling the efficient 48hr customised implant life-cycle, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and patient confidentiality.
WP3 Will develop the rapid manufacturing technologies for use of the newly developed biomaterials.
WP4 will undertake the detailed biocompatibility testing of the materials and devices for each case study application. These activities will include the preparation animal study protocols to enable in-vivo testing. Additional workpackage activities will include process and device validation, the establishment of case study regulatory compliance technical files and the sterilisation process optimisation for each case study device.
WP5 will develop the new implant products (craniofacial bone plate, spinal disc replacement and dental restoration). The initial conceptual implant designs have emerged through careful consideration of: the essential requirements, regulations and guidance, safety and liability aspects and available potential design options. These will be enhanced and further developed in view of the research results obtained within the project.
WP6 will demonstrate the project materials, technologies, medical devices and e-supply chain to potential end-users and future Custom-IMD e-supply chain partners.
WP7 will undertake an Economic, Environmental and Societal evaluation of the project results, and will undertake a study of how Healthcare providers are funded in different target EU countries. These studies will be used to help guide the development of the project materials, technologies and devices, and to support the exploitation of the project results.
WP8 The Extended services workpackage is dedicated to ensuring the long-term integration, support and continuation of the Custom-IMD vision throughout Europe and beyond the timeframe of the project.
WP9 The Training and Education Workpackage will provide additional content and support to the Extended Services platform, and thus will provide an important tool for the integration of the Custom-IMD value chain, materials, products and processes within Europe. Training activities will focus on the development of materials to support and train the 'trainers'.
WP10 has been dedicated to 'Exploitation, Innovation and Dissemination' and will ensure the efficient management, dissemination and exploitation of the project results (targeting European SMEs).
WP11 has been dedicated to 'Project Management' activities will ensure efficient cohesion between partners and workpackages.
